KONAMI announced today that “METAL GEAR SOLID 4 GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS”, the latest in the METAL GEAR series, is scheduled to be released in the second quarter of 2008.

KONAMI had initially intended to release “METAL GEAR SOLID 4 GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS” this winter and has been working on the production of the title. KONAMI has decided to delay the title’s release in order to make further improvements to the quality of the game and provide even greater enjoyment for more customers worldwide.

KONAMI will continue its efforts to make “METAL GEAR SOLID 4 GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS” meet everyone’s expectations.

Further information regarding the release date will be announced as soon as possible.

New Characters:
Sunny: a female who has escaped from the grasps of the “Patriots”
Trevin: An individual involved with weapons-laundering who can erase IDs from weapons so that they can be used again.
Little Grey: A mysterious creature who accompanies Trevin
Others: Meril, Jonathon, Ed, Haven Trooper, etc.

You are able to customize weapons in MGS4, for instance, you can change the barrel of a M4A1 assault rifle and convert it into a shotgun style weapon.

Gas mine, M870 Custom, Javelin missle, Mk 17 Assault Rifle, M64E, operator handgun, M14EBR Sniper Rifle, Stun Knife

Chris Kohler has put up these pictures of the english script to the new MGS4 TGS Trailer. Don’t expect the actual trailer ’til late tomorrow.

Famitsu magazine is reporting that yes Metal Gear Online will come with Metal Gear Solid 4. Great news for MGS fans. No word on whether or not it will be on two blu-ray discs or one.

Update: Metal Gear Solid 4 will be packaged with the Metal Gear Online “Starter Pack” which I assume means they want you to max out your credit cards for every weapon, gadget, and bizarre outfit they can cram on to the PSN.
