Playstation Vita Not Coming This Year – Except In Japan

Sony dude Jack Tretton was on Gametrailers live E3 coverage just now, and when asked if this year meant fiscal year ending in March 2012, or this year ending December 2011, Jack clarified that the PSVita will not be hitting America or Europe until 2012, but should be coming out in Japan by the end of 2011.

This leaves Nintendo in the clear for this year with the 3DS, Nintendo does great every Christmas, and this year they will have zero competition on the portable front.

Playstation Vita $249.00 for Wifi $299.00 for 3G

According to Joystiq the PSVita will be $249 for the Wifi only version, and $299 for the 3G model, and Eurogamer is saying 250 euros for those guys too.

Looks like Sony is looking to put 3DS in a corner here, though Nintendo has plenty of room to move on price, I wonder what kind of loss Sony is taking per PS Vita at that price.

This holiday will be interesting for the handheld war with Mario 3DS coming out, and we’ll see what 3DS price is by the end of the year.

Forbes Confirms New God Of War At E3

A Forbes representative John Geudiosi spent some time with Sony’s E3 lineup, and felt free to blog about an new God of War game to be shown off at the Sony E3 press conference. He describes it as a new God of War 3D adventure, but he was probably just shown the game on a 3D TV or some such garbage, the game will likely be nothing more than what you’d expect out of a God of War 4.

SSX Trick It Gameplay Video

EA put out a new video from their upcoming SSX reboot, and while it still seems to be missing a lot of charm, and proper level design, at least some of the mechanics on display seem to be working right here, though this new terrain reshaping gimmick they have, hopefully on in Trick It mode, seems to be a significant misstep. It certainly looks cool, and technologically impressive, but in the flow of gameplay it seems to be the equivalent of poor load streaming.

Hopefully they’ll continue to show more of the game throughout E3, perhaps a map with some actual designed elements, rather than big open nothingness with the same jump littered all over the place.

New Resistance 3 Multiplayer Gameplay

Sony better be holding back something interesting for their E3 presentation, because they seem to be dumping everything we know they have in the days before the event. Here they show off the multiplayer for the 3rd entry in the Resistance series for the Playstation 3.

It doesn’t look half bad for a console FPS, visually at least, though those skinny aliens just look ridiculous walking around the map like models prancing around in high heels.

God of War 4 Coming To E3?

The latest E3 rumor circling the internet drain is that retailers have begun listing God of War 4 on their pre-order release lists, if true it would most assuredly mean an E3 appearance of some sort for the tired character. Can Sony fans endure another entry in this exploited, milked beyond dry series? Can they top the extreme gore of God of War 3 while still managing to have an incredibly dumb storyline, and keep the lead character emo enough to retain that appeal with the 14 year old boys that Sony relies on to keep it’s game division from being shut down completely?

Yes, I believe they can.

Silent Hill: Book of Memories coming to Playstation Vita

During the disappointingly stale pre-recorder Konami pre-E3 press conference video, they slipped in this little announcement for the upcoming, formerly NGP now Vita, Sony portable, Silent Hill: Book of Memories is an apparent exclusive for the new system, though they didn’t show anymore than this logo shot, which Sony has a poor track record with, paying out for logos of promised game announcements from third parties that then never materialize, such as that Resident Evil PSP game, Devil May Cry PSP, Agent, etc.

Though it’s reasonable to presume that the previous PSP Silent Hill titles did no worse than the other entries in this consistently, and dramatically declining series.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Teaser Trailer

Square put out a teaser trailer, presumably for a real trailer to come during E3 sometime. The game looks nice visually of course, and the areas seem at least a bit more open in this teaser than FFXIII.

Uncharted 3 Co-op Pre E3 Trailer

Spike, always good for some shilling for the most mainstream, and biggest budget crap, was there for Naughty Dog when they needed someone to dump out some co-op footage for their interactive movie experience Uncharted 3 Drake’s Deception.
