Prototype 2 E3 Trailer

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

Prototype 2 is coming, and it looks a whole lot like Prototype 1, except for the main character being dumped because some of the more vocal members of the games press didn’t like him.

The first game was a pretty solid HD follow-up to The Incredible Hulk, though it got slagged for not having a more hipster vibe to it like Infamous, the only thing that was really lacking from the first were the number of set pieces that were so frequent in Hulk.

I look forward to running up buildings real fast with this new bald guy.

Game Republic Shut Down

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

Game Republic Closed

Rumor has quickly turned to evidence today that Game Republic is no more, amidst much speculation, and a warning that there would only be a limited number of days left before Game Republic’s digital download version of the PSP game Brave Story would be available on PSN, due to “expiring contracts”, more solid confirmations appeared on Kotaku that the head of Game Republic, in the face of mounting debts, had to flee the country or at the very least go into some form of hiding to avoid typical, as well as more nefarious, creditors. Today it seems that Game Republic’s phone line has literally been disconnected, and that they are no more.

For those not in the know Game Republic has created quite a few interesting niche, but lackluster selling games, such as Folklore for the PS3, and the recent multi-platform title Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom.

Game Republic was by no means a perfect developer, all of their most interesting titles were flawed in some way or another, but they were interesting titles, something this generation seems unwilling to support for the most part.

Rage The Well Gameplay Trailer

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

Rage Ginny

Bethesda has put out a new extended gameplay trailer for Rage, and it’s not looking any more impressive, it still looks like nothing more than an action version of Fallout 3, and while that may be more than enough for some people, others are quite tired of the robotic humans, and dank environments, there is more than one way to design a post-apocalyptic world.

It is nice of the mutant freaks to all do a cute little roll on the ground in front of you before they attack. Check out the trailer here.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Teaser Trailer

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

Square put out a teaser trailer, presumably for a real trailer to come during E3 sometime. The game looks nice visually of course, and the areas seem at least a bit more open in this teaser than FFXIII.

Silent Hill Downpour E3 Trailer

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

Konami released the E3 trailer for their latest attempt to resurrect their beloved, but poor selling, horror franchise, and it looks pretty damn good. It looks much better than the last HD game, and while it might not be quite as experimental as the Wii Silent Hill it definitely isn’t coming off as another bland rehash so far.

Murder is a mortal sin you go to hell for murder:

Soul Calibur V Pre E3 Gameplay Trailer

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

One of the few games to actually show anything from the actual game on the pre E3 GT.TV special, this Soul Calibur V gameplay footage looks quite a bit like Soul Calibur IV, just with less Star Wars characters.

New Deus Ex Gameplay Trailer

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

Squeenix unloaded this new gameplay trailer for Deus Ex Human Revolution. It’s primarily to show off playing through the same area YOUR way, so it’s a bit repetitive. Honestly this game looks worse every time they show anything outside of a cutscene, all I see is Alpha Protocol with better combat and less dialog options.

First Mortal Kombat DLC

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

The Last Mortal Kombat

The first DLC for Mortal Kombat is revealed in the latest issue of GameInformer, and it’s all characters. Kintaro, Kenshi, and an as yet unnamed Lady in red are all going to be up for purchase on top of the $60 price tag for the game itself. It’s a good thing Mortal Kombat hasn’t been relevant since the SNES days, or I might be upset about the many ways in which they plan to nickle & dime people on this game.

Duke Nukem Forever Delayed

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

Duke Nukem Forever

Duke Nukem Forever sees it’s most recent delay, pushing the game back to June 14th, and since this was a trivial promotional delay they made this nice little video. This will never live up to Duke Nukem 3D, it can’t.

Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica Come To Xbox 360 & Playstation 3

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

Resident Evil Degeneration Claire

Capcom with has reached a new level in their port lust, according to the new issue of Famitsu, Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Code Veronica are making their way to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, in some form. Whether these will be quicky ports like Resident Evil 2 on Gamecube and Archives on the Wii, or if they’ll be more substantial upgrades like Resident Evil Remake for Gamecube is yet to be seen.

In any case, these are two of the best Resident Evil games ever made, it goes 4 > 2 > Veronica for those of you not familiar with the series. No matter how sloppy the ports, at least we can rest easy knowing that there’s no way they’ll be any worse than the shame of the series Resident Evil 5.
